If you are like most folks coming to downtown St. Augustine, you will probably pass Carmelo’s Marketplace on King Street. Stop by and enjoy authentic Italian food before coming to or after leaving the sites in the historic part of St. Augustine.
Carmelo’s Marketplace has a rich history of living and having a business in St. Augustine after coming from Sicily. Carmelo’s prides themselves with making food “fast but fabulous since everything is made-to-order with the freshest ingredients.” They offer a variety of Italian dishes from delicious pizza, subs and more!
Carmelo’s pizzas are made from scratch and hand-tossed, with fresh ingredients including imported cheeses and cooked in a brick oven. Customers can get creative when choosing from the variety of toppings to create traditional or uncommon types of pizza. While most pizzerias consider 14” a large pizza, at Carmelo’s a large is even bigger at 20.”
In addition to pizza, Carmelo’s also offers subs, hot dishes, and salads. Customers can choose from a variety of hot and cold subs and sandwiches from the traditional turkey or roast beef subs to Carmelo’s signature Brittany Wrap, featuring mayo, roast beef, lettuce, tomatoes, banana peppers, hot peppers, and Asiago cheese! Their hot dishes include baked ziti, spaghetti, lasagna, and chicken or eggplant parmigiana. Scrumptious desserts include cheesecake, chocolate cake, carrot cake, tiramisu, cannoli, and homemade peanut butter pie. Carmelo’s offers different specials every day of the week. On the weekends, you just might find offers like two 16” pizzas with two toppings for only $24.99.
