This holiday season, enjoy the 28th Annual Nights of Lights winter festival, which runs from November 20, 2021, to January 31, 2022. See the 3 million-plus light display that National Geographic magazine named one of the top ten holiday light displays in the world.

Businesses downtown stay open later during the seasonal display, allowing you to dine in front of the lights and shop in the decorated buildings.

Special seasonal tours on the trains and trolleys take you through the best areas, and there are also a variety of speciality tours ranging from walking to electric cart tours, and even tours to see the lights from the water and the air.

There are numerous photo opportunities throughout the downtown area, from the dazzling lights along the bayfront to the Christmas tree in the Plaza de la Constitución, which is surrounded by holiday gifts. From dusk to dawn, the lights in St. Augustine bring holiday cheer to both visitors and locals.

It’s the 28th year of Light-Up! Night kicks off at 4 p.m. with a performance by Showtime USA, who will be performing a variety of holiday musical favourites. Showtime will perform in front of the City Hall in St. Augustine, located at 75 King St. At 5:30 p.m., the All-Star Orchestra performs amazing swing and big band sounds in the historic Plaza de la Constitución Gazebo, all in grand festive flair. The switch to the Nights of Lights is flipped during the Light-Up! Night ceremony, which begins at 6:30 p.m. in the plaza. After the ceremony, the concert will continue until 7:30 p.m.

This is St. Augustine’s local winter holiday celebration, in which every historic downtown business and many residents participate by lighting up their buildings. National Geographic named the celebration one of the top ten dazzling holiday lighting displays in the world in 2011 and 2012. The beautiful display continues to mesmerise people from all around the world, and it is becoming more and more popular as a vacation destination each year.

Flagler College, the Lightner Museum, and side streets like Cordova and Orange streets have some of the most elaborate light displays. The Plaza de la Constitución, the main plaza, has lights draped around every tree, with a large Christmas tree in the centre where photos can be taken. St. George Street, the main pedestrian-only shopping district, is also beautifully lit up.

The Tini Martini Bar inside the Casablanca Inn is a frequent award winner for its light display. Visitors and locals alike can dine on their outdoor patio, which is surrounded by glowing bulbs. Many people enjoy the view of the bayfront from the Bridge of Lions, and it is a must-see photo opportunity.
