St. Augustine Chalk Walk Festival
Street painting has been traced to 16th century Italy, when traveling artists were brought to the cities to work on the cathedrals. When their work was done, the artists would recreate their church paintings on the pavement. They would travel to the saint festivals in the villages and cities and recreate their work there as well, hoping for enough tips to live on! Pavement art has become quite popular and really offers that “wow” factor both its artists and its fans. Join 70+ artists for St. Augustine FL 1st Annual Paseo Pastel Chalk Walk Festival from March 22-24, 2013. The artists will set up shop on the sidewalks between the City Parking Garage and the Visitors Information Center at 10 West Castillo Drive. The theme? St. Augustine heritage! The canvas? A 4 x 6 sidewalk spot.
