The Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine is the nation’s oldest Catholic parish, dating back to its construction in 1793-1797. It has undergone many changes since then, including two fires, reconstructions, additions, and remodels, but the essence remains. It was named a National Historic Landmark in 1970 and features murals, stained glass windows, and wood-beamed ceilings. It’s a truly breathtaking experience that you will definitely want to include on your trip to St. Augustine.

You do not have to be Catholic to experience this tour. All are welcome. Docents are available for questions from Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Formal tours begin at 3 p.m. each day. Group tours are available by appointment as well as and can be presented in Spanish and American Sign Language (again, by appointment). The tour includes a guided walk through the main parts of the cathedral as well as the lesser-used areas such as the choir loft, sacristy, confessional, baptistery, and chapel. The tour lasts approximately one hour, and tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for children between 6 and 12 (under 6 are free).
